Alcôve Wine Bar — Bringing the Bar Online

Alcôve Wine Bar approached us directly, looking to establish an online presence from the ground up. Since opening in Worcester in June 2025, Alcôve had built a loyal following around great wine, world-class cocktails, and thoughtfully selected charcuterie — all without a website to match. With private bookings and event enquiries increasingly coming through word of mouth alone, the brief was clear: create a site that could actually convert interest into bookings, while feeling every bit as relaxed, welcoming, and unpretentious as the physical bar itself.
Hospitality websites in this space often fall into one of two traps – either overly formal and stiff, or so template-driven they could belong to any bar, anywhere. For a venue built on genuine, attentive service and more than 40 years of combined team experience, neither option was right. Alcôve needed a site that felt personal and considered, translating the warmth of walking through the door into something that came across just as clearly on a screen.

Process & Meaning: Designing the Feeling of Walking In

With no existing site to build from, the process started from scratch – understanding the physical space, the tone of the brand, and exactly how customers were currently trying (and often struggling) to book private events and tables. From there, the site was built around two priorities: capturing the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere of Alcôve in every visual and written detail, and making private and event bookings genuinely easy to request. The design leans into warmth and intimacy – tones and typography chosen to feel considered rather than corporate, echoing the “great wine, great company” ethos at the heart of the brand. Every design decision was measured against a simple question: would this feel at home inside the bar itself? The result is a site that functions as an extension of the physical space, not a separate, disconnected presence.
Atmosphere translated into UX: Warm tones, considered typography, and unhurried pacing throughout the site mirror the relaxed, welcoming feel of the bar itself – never pretentious, always inviting.
Private and event booking enquiries, previously reliant on word of mouth, now have a clear, simple path – turning interest into confirmed bookings rather than lost opportunities.
A digital home that matches the physical one – Every element was built to feel like a natural extension of Alcôve’s in-person experience, so first impressions online carry the same warmth as walking through the door.

Wine & Good Times

The finished site gave Alcôve Wine Bar something it had never had: a digital presence that matched the quality of the experience inside. By focusing on atmosphere as much as function, the site turns curious visitors into booked tables and enquiries into events – all while staying true to the relaxed, welcoming spirit of great wine and great company.
